I am often asked “What makes AntlerMax® different from other deer feeds on the market”? Although many things set AntlerMax® apart, a very major difference is the research behind it.
The word “research” is thrown around rather loosely in the deer feed industry but Purina Mills AntlerMax is unquestionably the most thoroughly researched and tested deer feed in the industry. Purina Mills has been doing animal nutrition research at our Missouri research facility since 1924 and we started doing deer nutrition research in the late 1950’s. Although there are many differences, three things really set it apart: (1) AntlerMax® Protein Technology which is an all-natural patented nutritional delivery system that provides a substantially higher quality protein to growing deer antlers; (2) A proprietary blend of types and ratios of trace minerals necessary for building optimal antler growth, density and strength. This unique trace mineral package was formulated using over 3500 deer liver mineral results in order to correlate a buck’s mineral status to his antler size; and (3) AntlerMax® Energy Technology which is a research based blend of energy sources that includes starch, digestible fiber and fat including a proprietary bypass fat to help maintain optimum body condition and allow bucks and does to quickly regain condition after the rut.
Although Purina Mills has developed many new and innovative deer feed products, the one I am probably most excited about is our new Textured Deer Breeder Diet. This new feed contains all the technology discussed above and applies it as a textured feed. It is a mix of specially formulated pellets, a patented Energy Nugget, whole grains, roasted soybeans and sunflower seeds coated with molasses. The Energy Nugget is the secret that makes this feed unlike any other deer feed available in the industry. It is a blend of five vegetable oils in the form of an extruded nugget.
