Longneck Ranch was established in 1999 as a family hunting and recreation oasis near Uvalde, Texas by two lifelong friends and business partners, Doug Ivey and Hardy Watford. Today, the ranch has evolved into a guided native and exotic hunting paradise on 2100 acres of beautiful transition Hill Country supported by one of the finest Whitetail Deer breeding operations found anywhere.
In an effort to develop the ranch's whitetail genetics, the partners made the decision in 2002 to take control of the herd's future by becoming a Whitetail Breeder with a focus for their deer breeding operation that is simple: Only the best will do.
With this goal in mind, the partners set out to acquire top genetics from not only Texas, but from around the country as well. To complement these efforts, they have developed an intensely managed breeding program. From state-of-the-art animal husbandry to scientific vaccination protocols, there are no short cuts taken to ensure that these valuable genetics can be fully expressed.
In our operations, we take into account that there are multiple facets to deer breeding, and just as many differing opinions on how to produce the best deer in the business. Our approach is to provide an environment for our deer in which they can succeed and realize their full genetic potential. To that end, we have constructed our pens and handling facilities in a manner which allows for the least amount of animal stress and impact.
To ensure proper monitoring and management of our breeding operation, Longneck Ranch has employed a full-time staff wildlife biologist. With easy access to the best veterinary assistance in the state, utilization of gender and age specific feed, and a full understanding and experience with the myriad of health issues that face whitetail deer, we operate with cutting edge animal husbandry practices.
We also believe that superior genetics require, first and foremost, a focused emphasis on developing the quality of the doe population. Along with top genetic semen, we have acquired does that come from a wide variety of the top bloodlines available. Through excellent record keeping and full DNA testing, we are able to ensure our customer of the superior genetics they are receiving. With a willingness to invest in the best quality top-of-the-line semen available inside and outside the state, along with our superior does, we are able to focus on developing those BIG BUCKS our customers desire.
The goal of our operation is to consistently produce the best quality breeding stock available for the industry. This year, we have achieved and will continue to expand on our capability to provide a herd with 300 plus inches of non-typical antler and 200 plus inches of typical antler for both sire and dam which can be passed down to future generations.
Within Longneck Ranch's breeding operation you will find genetics from top AI sires such as Stickers, Maxbo Extreme, MF, Easy Money, Ground Zero, Flintstone, Highlander, Baker, Bambi 727, BB Peanut and Gladiator. We also have direct descendants through our does bred directly to Bambi Cactus and Bambi Blossom.
As you can see, the Longneck Ranch takes great pride in our breeding operation. We also take great pride in our customer service and our ability to facilitate the process for our customers acquiring deer for their breeding and ranching programs. We believe a personal and professional relationship is important to our customers and they know we will be there to follow up long after they have received their deer.
Longneck Ranch offers bred and open does and a limited selection of bucks annually to meet all your whitetail deer needs. We invite you to contact us at any time to learn more about our operations or to schedule a visit. We look forward to meeting you!
