Lodge Creek Whitetails, owned by Bryan Mitchell, was established in 2006. As a new breeder we are always looking to advance our program. Last year we set out with a mission to acquire some of the best and most well known 200" pure Texas genetics within the state.

Founded in 1995 Cross Timbers Whitetails, previously owned by Rod Heltzel, was purchased by Lodge Creek Whitetails. You can now find "the WIZ", Pretty Boy, Starbuck, and many other great deer as part of our breeding operation. Dedicated to producing big trophy whitetails, we continue to move forward and build upon the legacy of Cross Timbers Whitetails' commitment to producing trophy whitetail deer.

Located in Jacksboro, Texas, Lodge Creek Whitetails is a modern whitetail deer facility with a program known for producing BIG pure Texas genetics. Striving for excellence and integrity we continue to closely monitor our CWD program and maintain detailed records of our deer to ensure proper DNA certification.

Our herd is known for excellent pure Texas genetics, which have produced 200+ B&C whitetails including "the WIZ", Pretty Boy, and 200" two year olds Cash and Cadillac, now owned by The Refuge.

The foundation of our herd is based on several premier bloodlines and can be traced back to "Clint" - Kotzur, "Paco" - Moczygemba, "Sal", 30" Wide Sire - Lamb Ranch, 166" 15 pt. 3 yr. old - Schulte Buck - brother to "Starbuck", Gonzalez line - Gene Gonzalez, "Son of Sal" - James Veitenheimer - Sal (both sides), "Hondo" - Mark Matthews, Lex Cottle line.

Starbuck is just what his name suggests, a STAR! He's not the biggest buck around but he has proven himself as a top producer of BIG pure Texas whitetails. This is evident by his well known sons, "the WIZ", Pretty Boy, Cash & Taz owned by The Refuge, as well as, one of his grandsons, Cadillac, also owned by The Refuge. Starbuck's genetics are strong. With proven 200" genetics at age 2, demonstrated by his son, Cash (216 B&C w/ 28 points), and grandson, Cadillac, both owned by The Refuge, as well as, Pretty Boy and "the WIZ's" ability to maintain 200", Starbuck's offspring show great performance and longevity. His dark, dark gray color is classic south Texas., and transmits this genetic trait very consistently to all his offspring.

Starbuck is the backbone to our program, and part owner of Starbuck, Rod Heltzel, can testify to the outstanding performance and production Starbuck has provided over the years. We know Starbuck's legacy will continue to live on for many years to come, carried on by all of his BIG pure Texas offspring.

After scoring 190 B&C at age 3, "the Wiz" has scored over 200 B&C ever since. He has proven to be a great primary producer, evident by several great sons owned by other breeders. Cadillac, owned by The Refuge, scored 226 B&C at 2 ½ years old, with 27 total points. The Refuge also owns several other Wiz sons, they too are excellent pure Texas offspring. Some of Wiz's other sons can be found in several other breeding programs; Sullivan Whitetail Ranch, Snuff City Ranch, The Delozier Ranch, just to name a few. Wiz, like his sire Starbuck, has become a great producer. He has a dominance and desire to breed that is truly amazing. And don?t forget his body size. Wiz is a huge pure Texas buck, with a pre-rut body weight well above 220lbs.

After scoring 190 B&C at 3 ½ years old, Pretty Boy also has scored over 200 B&C for the past two years. With his low profile wide spread look, he resembles the typical South Texas buck we all long for in our dreams. With several forks and beauty points, there is no wonder as to why we call him "Pretty Boy." As a Starbuck son, he has great promise for the future, and is well on his way to being a great breeder. Pretty Boy's twin brother, Taz, can be found at The Refuge, a typical 10 point that at age 3 scored in the high 180's. Starbuck has once again proven his superior genetics with another 200 class pure Texas son.

StarChaser is a three year old Starbuck son. He is a typical 10 point scoring 185 B&C with long tine length, heavy mass, and excellent main-beam length. He is big bodied like Starbuck with 9" brow tines. His genetic traits will be influential in our herd's future offspring.

What can you say. As a pure Texas 2 year old, Rodrigo is definitely above average. Like his predecessors before him, "the WIZ" and Pretty Boy, Rodrigo almost breaks 150 at 149 B&C. He is showing just about all the characteristics a breeder could ask for when trying to produce a buck with lots of inches. He has great mass, tine length, brow-tines, forks, and kickers. Only thing missing right now, are drop-tines. Who knows, as a Starbuck son, Rodrigo might pop a few drops himself in the years to come. He has huge potential, and as a pure Texas whitetail, he is still a few years out from his biggest rack. With outstanding proven performance from his older brothers, we can hardly contain our excitement!
